Tu es Sacerdos in Aeternum - You are a Priest Forever

01-14-2018Pastor's LetterMonsignor Gregory W. Gordon

Today, I celebrate my 30th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination. On this anniversary, I want to thank my family for transmitting to me our Catholic Faith and always encouraging me in my vocation; hearing the Lord's call. They are with me at this anniversary Mass today: my mother Carole (my father William was called home to the Lord in 1994), my sister Karen, and my brothers David, Paul and Rick, and their families. Some came from Pennsylvania and Maryland today. Thank you, family, for always being there; I remember all of you with love at Mass today.

Tu es Sacerdos in Aeternum - You are a Priest Forever

01-03-2018Pastor's LetterMonsignor Gregory W. Gordon

Next Sunday, I celebrate my 30th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination. I was ordained a priest at the Guardian Angel Cathedral (then the co-cathedral of the Diocese of Reno - Las Vegas) on Saturday, January 16, 1988, by Bishop Walsh. I can hardly believe that it was 30 years ago! And I have had so many blessed priestly ministry experiences and memories since then. In gratitude to Almighty God for the gift of my vocation to the Holy Priesthood of Jesus Christ, I will offer Masses of Thanksgiving with you here at Saint Anne next Sunday, January 14th, at 10:00 AM (in Spanish) and 12:00 Noon (in English). An ordination anniversary reception will follow in the Ghanem Center Gym after the Noon Mass. All are invited. Know that I keep all of you, my parish family, in my prayers on that day.

Msgr. Gordon made Administrator of Saint Bridget, in addition to Pastor of Saint Anne

02-09-2017Pastor's LetterRev. Msgr. Ellsworth R. Walden

Bishop Pepe has appointed me administrator of Saint Bridget parish for the remainder of the fiscal year (until July 1), in addition to my assignment as your pastor here.

Saying ‘Yes’, I will try to do that work efficiently without being away from Saint Anne’s any more than necessary. We have a good priest in Father Frank Yncierto there, and also Deacon Jim Wiggins.

Thank you for your prayers and understanding as we make these pastoral adjustments.

November: The month of All Souls

11-01-2016Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Dear Saint Anne Family,

In November, the month of All Souls, we remember our faithful departed. As Catholics, we believe, in accord with scripture and tradition, that praying for the dead is “a holy and pious thing…that they might be delivered from their sins” (2 Macc. 12:45).

As we conclude the Jubilee Year of Mercy, we offer a “spiritual work of mercy” by praying for the faithful departed in our All Souls Day Novena, from All Souls Day, Wednesday, 2 November, through Thursday, 10 November. On each of the 9 days of this Novena, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered at Saint Anne’s for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, especially for your family members and loved ones who have died.

Blessings in your new assignment, Father Paul

05-15-2016Pastor's Letter

This week, the clergy assignments of the diocese were made; among them: Rev. Paul Oye will move from parochial vicar, St. Anne, to parochial Vicar, Saint James and Saint John Neumann, effective July 1, 2016. We will all miss Father Paul. We offer him our love and prayers as he prepares to begin his new ministry serving two parishes jointly administered: Saint James and Saint John Neumann. One blessing of this assignment is that Father Paul is not far away, so we can visit. We will prepare a farewell reception for Father Paul in late June, as his new assignment draws nearer. God bless you, Father Paul, and thank you for generously sharing your gifts and your priesthood with us at Saint Anne these past two years.
